Dreamscape Concert Night: William Basinski (US) + Hinako Omori (JP)

Dreamscape is proud to host the new tour of one of experimental music’s greatest figures, the live show of William Basinski, this time presenting their newest album. September 23rd is the first release in William Basinski’s new Arcadia Archive series.

Recorded in September 1982 in his first loft in the pre-gentrified DUMBO neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, September 23rd is a recently unearthed early entry in what has become a hugely inspirational and influential catalog. A sound and video artist, a clarinetist and saxophonist, William Basinski’s artistic career is one fuelled by a search, a search for a new way to speak, a new self-created vocabulary. A classically trained musician and and composer with more than 30 years of experience working in experimental media, in both NYC, and most recently, California. Employing obsolete technology and analogue tape loops, his haunting and melancholy soundscapes explore the temporal nature of life and resound with the reverberations of memory and the mystery of time.
His epic 4-disc masterwork, The Disintegration Loops received international critical acclaim and was subsequently lamented into the history books as one of the most important works of contemporary experimental music by the Zeitgeist at large. A William Basinski show is both expressive and introspective, making the listener navigate through textures, silence and affection like no other.
