Ensemble Orthodox Singers.Concert “Consecrated Spring”. Eastern Orthodox Church Music for Easter

The rich and multi-layered tradition of Eastern Orthodox church music, performed by the acclaimed ensemble Orthodox Singers. The concert brings together the liturgical meaning of Easter and the spirit of springtime renewal.

The program features Byzantine, Serbian, and Old Russian Easter chants alongside new interpretations by contemporary composers. The concert offers both a spiritual and aesthetic experience for connoisseurs of church tradition as well as lovers of classical and contemporary music — the evening will be filled with song, prayer, and the light of spring, speaking of rebirth and hope.

The ensemble Orthodox Singers, consisting of professional musicians, was founded by Valeri Petrov in 1989. It is recognized as one of Estonia’s finest professional vocal ensembles, with a repertoire that includes both early and modern Orthodox liturgical music. In addition to well-known international composers, the ensemble also performs works by Estonian composers Arvo Pärt, Cyrillus Kreek, and Veljo Tormis. Their repertoire is continuously enriched with new works. The singers of Orthodox Singers masterfully command expressive techniques from different eras. Their performance style is characterized by deep attention to the meaning of each word, impeccable vocal technique, carefully crafted dynamics, and a refined sense of style. Critics have repeatedly praised the ensemble’s ability to maintain the structural integrity of a piece while achieving a delicate and flowing piano — figuratively described as “sound that melts away.”

Please notice, the permanents exhibitions and museum is closed. Doors open 30 minutes before the start of the event.
