Guided tour in Hungarian in the Niguliste Museum: the permanent exhibition

The guided tour in Hungarian, led by Viia-Kadi Raudalainen, will introduce masterpieces of Estonian medieval and early modern ecclesiastical art.

The permanent exhibition of the Niguliste Museum displays the most remarkable and valuable works of the medieval and early modern ecclesiastical art of Estonia. Most of the works of art in the Niguliste Museum’s collection originate from the church itself and are displayed in their original locations. The best-known work in the museum is the Dance of Death from Bernt Notke’s workshop. A 7.5-metre-long piece of the original work, completed at the end of the 15th century, has survived.

The exhibition tour is part of the special programme Introducing Estonian Art in European Languages, which introduces Estonian cultural heritage in six different European languages. Guided tours in English, Swedish, Hungarian, Portuguese, Spanish and Danish will be carried out by the Art Museum’s curators from 9 May to 12 May in the Niguliste Museum and the Adamson-Eric Museum. The tours will introduce Estonian art from the Middle Ages to modern times and provide fascinating insights into Estonian cultural history.
