Retable of the High Altar of St. Nicholas’ Church

The retable of the high altar of St. Nicholas’ Church in Tallinn is one of the most magnificent late-medieval northern German altarpieces in Europe. The winged altar was commissioned from the workshop of the painter Hermen Rode, and it was completed during the years 1478–1481. On the tour, participants can see the closed and half-open views of the retable, with a focus on the legends of Saint Victor and Saint Nicholas.

The tour needs to be pre-booked and takes place in Estonian, English, Russian, German or Swedish every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 14:00 pm or 15:15.
The package includes a 20-minute tour with an art historian and a 15-minute musical performance.
The group price of the package is 25 euros, plus the entrance fee for each participant.
